March Madness Adult PTA Social

Horizon PTA presents the March Madness Horizon PTA Adult Social and Auction Friday, March 2, 2012. Click here for a copy of the invitation.

Please save the date for this exciting night. This fundraiser will support future PTA programs, activities and events. In order to reach our funding goals, we are looking for individuals and businesses to contribute items such as gift certificates, weekend get-aways, spa packages, dinners, tickets to sporting events, etc. for attendees to bid on in silent and live auctions and raffles. ODYSSEY OF THE MIND -- PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Currently, we have eight teams who are meeting and getting started on Odyssey of the Mind. However, we have almost thirty (30!) students (that would be four more teams) who are not meeting because we do not have enough volunteer coaches. These are Horizon students ready to use their creative, problem-solving teamwork skills. We need a few parents to take the plunge and give them the chance to develop and use those skills. If you missed the deadline for Participation Request—this is your chance! Please contact Mrs. Tate (linda.tate@lcps.org) or Mrs. Mong (robin.mong@lcps.org) immediately. Your child can have a spot on a team if you will volunteer to coach. Six other students will have a team if you volunteer to coach. And…you have an extra vote on when the meetings will be held. There are many ways we can help you get started. The Odyssey of the Mind philosophy is…… You CAN do it!

RECYCLING FUNDRAISER

Have any old cell phones or other electronics lying around? Bring your old cell phones, ink cartridges, and old electronic devices to Horizon where VertiGO Recover will turn them into cash for the school. Getting rid of old electronics around the house and helping the environment while earning money for our school -- it's a win-win! This awesome fundraiser will be around for the entire 2011-2012 school year. See the attached flyer for more details, including a listing of items that can be recycled (page 2 of the flyer). Bring your electronics recycling with you when you come to the Jingle Bell Shoppe on Saturday, December 3rd!

FUN FAIR IS COMING! – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

June will be here before we know it! And that means Fun Fair time!! If you are interested in volunteering to help plan this year's Fun Fair please contact Amye Love at amyemlove2@yahoo.com or Kristen Sirois at kristensirois@yahoo.com. We will be scheduling a meeting soon to begin preparations for this much loved end of the year school event!
