Mrs. Victoria Schoenly

As the SEARCH teacher, I work with all students in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades, but I'm happy to help with any questions or concerns that the 4th or 5th graders and their parents might have about gifted services in Loudoun County Public Schools.

After attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, I married, had two children, and did lots of volunteer work.  I eventually graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Languages (ancient Latin and Greek), never intending to be a teacher.  At the urging of a middle school principal in Oxford, Mississippi, however, I went back to school to become certified (in Latin, gifted, and several other subjects) and then went to work for that principal.  Since then, I've taught gifted for the past 22 years--3 years at Little River, 8 years at the 7th and 8th grade level (teaching Latin to gifted students) in Oxford, Mississippi, 7 years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade gifted in a pull-out program, also in Oxford, and 4 years at Liberty. For three years, I also served as the Gifted Coordinator for my school district in Mississippi.

Recently I have presented at a national conference, National Association for Gifted Children, and at a state conference, Virginia Society for Technology in Education.  I'll be presenting again this November at the National Association for Gifted Children conference in Denver.  My presentation will focus on the LCPS gifted VISION site (a lesson and information sharing Moodle site)  which I manage for all the SEARCH teachers in Loudoun County.

In 2002, I received my National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist, and I renewed my NBCT certification this past year.   I currently work with the LCPS National Board Focus Group as a Candidate Support Provider working with LCPS teachers who are attempting to gain National Board Certification.

My husband, a retired University of Mississippi professor (Computer and Information Science), and I live in South Riding. We have two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and four fabulous grandchildren. We are happy to be part of this wonderful community and look forward to making both the community and the school the very best they can be!
