Music is a vital ingredient to a child’s education. It is the ultimate

union of aural, visual, and kinesthetic learning, and it is universally suited to

fit every child’s individual need. Music builds a foundation for math, reading,

and language skills; develops an appreciation for the fine arts; explores

foreign countries and cultures; encourages imagination and creativity; and

enhances the pure enjoyment of school.

All students of Lucketts Elementary are musicians, and therefore

every student participates in Music class weekly.

Musicians in 1^st through 5^th grades have music for one half hour, twice a week.

Through a variety of meaningful experiences,

the students will develop their music skills in the following areas:

*Rhythm
*Melody/Harmony

*Form & Expressive Elements

*Listening/Analyzing/Evaluating Music

*Composers & Music Time Periods

*Multicultural Music & Literature

*Movement, Dance & Dramatization
