Hello, parents. My name is Susana Suarez. I have been a speech-language pathologist at Dominion Trail ES since 2009. Before that, I worked at The Children’s Guild in Prince George’s County, MD. I received my undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, D.C. and my graduate degrees from Boston University and the University of Maryland at College Park.
I very much enjoy working with children to help them achieve their speech and language goals. I particularly enjoy helping children improve their articulation skills because they tend to improve very quickly. I equally enjoy helping children improve their social skills because adults notice the improvements and comment positively about the children to me. I also enjoy teaching fluency (the opposite of stuttering) because before I talk to them about it, many children think that they are the only ones who stutter. I also enjoy teaching receptive and expressive language skills because these skills help the children in so many aspects of school and life.
I look forward to an awesome year with you and your children.
