Students at Leesburg Elementary will be celebrating National African American History Month during February. Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will be learning about the important contributions of African Americans in the areas of art, music, politics, civil rights, education, sports and science. Students at several grade levels will be writing essays about their dreams for America, modeled after Dr. Martin Luther King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.
